Bisquick type mixes


BISQUICK LIKE MIX #2
8 1/2 cups flour,
4 tablespoons baking powder ,
1 tablespoon salt,
2 teaspoons cream of tartar,
1 teaspoon baking soda,
1 1/2 cups dry milk ,
2 1/4 cups vegetable shortening
Combine dry ingredients. Blend well. Cut in
shortening until mixture looks like coarse
crumbs. Store in airtight containers for 10 to 12
weeks. Makes about 13 cups mix.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX #3
10 cups flour,
3/8 cup baking powder,
1 tsp. cream of tartar,
1 1/4 cups powdered milk,
1 1/2 tbsp. salt,
1/4 cup sugar,
1 lb shortening .
Mix all dry ingredients together. cut in
shortening and store in an airtight container. .
You can cut this recipe in half. Use
as you normally would use bisquick.

5 pounds flour ,
3 tablespoons salt,
1 teaspoon salt ,
1/2 cup baking powder ,
4 teaspoons baking powder ,
6 cups instant non fat powdered milk,
4 cups shortening
Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening.
Keep at room temperature.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX #5
9 cups all-purpose flour,
1 cup instant non-fat drypowdered milk,
1/4 cup baking powder ,
1 tablespoon plus ,
1 teaspoon salt,
2 cups shortening,
Mix flour, dry milk, baking powder and
salt. Cut in shortening until particles are size
of coarse cornmeal. Refrigerate in airtight
container up to 1 month.
12 cups mix.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX #6
5 cup flour ,
1 1/2 Tbsp baking powder,
2 Tbsp sugar,
2 tsp salt ,
1 tsp cream of tarter ,
1 cup shortening,
Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in
shortening until mix resembles corn meal.
Store in a dry container for
up to six months or freeze for up to a year.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX#7
: 4 Quarts[ 12 cupS] sifted flour ,
6 tb baking powder ,
6 ts salt,
3 cup shortening .
Sift dry ingredients together 3 times; cut in the
shortening; stir and mix until you have a
granular texture, like cornmeal; put
mixture in glass jars and cover lightly; makes
about 4 quarts =a gallon.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX #8
8-1/2 cups flour - all white, or half white and
half whole wheat,
3 tbsp. baking powder,
2 tsp. salt,
2 tsp. cream of tartar,
1 tsp. baking soda ,
1-1/2 cups INSTANT NON FAT POWDERED MILK

1 lb. solid vegetable shortening (like Crisco) In
a huge bowl, stir together all the dry
ingredients until you're sure they're well mixed.
Using a pastry blender, cut the shortening into
the flour mixture until it resembles coarse
cornmeal. This can also be done in batches in a
food processor - just make sure you divide the
ingredients equally, and don't over-process.
Store the mixture at room temperature in a
tightly covered container, and use in any
recipe that calls for store-bought biscuit mix.
Makes tons.

1 cup flour,
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder,
1/2 teaspoon salt ,
1 Tablespoon shortening
Combine all ingredients and use as a
substitution for Bisquick OR JIFFY BAKING MIX

BISQUICK LIKE MIX #10
5 1/2 cups all purpose flour,
2/3 cupinstant nonfat dry powdered milk,
2 Tablespoons sugar,
2 Tablespoons double acting baking powder,
2 teaspoons salt,
3/4 cup solid vegetable shortening
Combine flour, dry milk, sugar, baking powder
and salt in a large bowl; Stir to mix well. Add
shortening to the bowl. Cut into dry ingredients
with pastry blender or fork, until mixture is
smooth. Store in container with tight-fitting lid
in cool place or fridge up to 3 weeks. Stir well
before using. Pile lightly into measure; level off
top.
CORNMEAL BAKING MIX
Substitute 2 1/2 cups cornmeal for 2 1/2 cups of
all purpose flour.
WHOLE-WHEAT BAKING
MIX;Substitute 2 1/2 cups of whole-wheat flour
for 2 cups of the all purpose flour.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX # 11
4 cups unbleached white flour,
2/3 cup instant non fat powdered milk ,
1 tsp salt,
3 Tbsp double acting baking powder,
1/2 cup corn vegetable oil,
Mix flour, milk, salt and baking powder together
in blender or food processor. Mix well, then
blend in the oil. Empty into covered container,
and store in refrigerator until needed. This
yields about 5 cups of mix. Each cup of mix
makes about six biscuits. To make biscuits:
Add 1/2 cup water to each 1 cup of mix.
Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured
board, cut into biscuits and bake on a greased
cookie sheet in a preheated 425F deg. oven for
approx. 10 minutes.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX #12
Yield: 8 lbs of mix.
5 lbs flour ,
3/4 cup baking powder,
3 Tbsp salt,
1 Tbsp cream of Tartar,
2 lbs vegetable shortening ,
4 cup instant powdered milk.
Stir together flour, baking powder, salt and
cream of tartar. Cut in shortening to the
consistency of cornmeal. Stir in dry milk.
Store in a covered container at room
temperature. Will keep for months. When using
this mix, pile lightly into a cup and level off
with a spatula.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX # 13
8 1/2 c flour ,
3 T baking powder ,
1 T salt,
2 t cream of tartar ,
1 t baking soda ,
1 1/2 c instant non fat powdered milk ,
2 1/4 c vegetable shortening.
In a large bowl, sift together all dry
ingredients. Blend well. With a pastry
blender, cut in shortening until evenly
distributed. Mixture will resemble cornmeal in
texture. Put in a large airtight container. Label
and store in a cool, dry, place. Use within
10 to 12 weeks. Makes about 13 cups of
BISQUICK LIKE MIX
VARIATION: Use 4 1/4 cups Unbleached
All-purpose Flour and 4 1/4 cups Whole-wheat
flour instead of 8 1/2 cups Unbleached
All-purpose Flour. Increase baking powder to
5 Tablespoons.

8 c flour 1 1/4 c nonfat dry milk 1/4 c baking
powder 1 T salt 2 c shortening Combine flour,
milk, baking
powder, and salt in a very large bowl. Cut in
shortening
until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Store in
tightly closed
covered container in a cool place.

processor. Mix well, then blend in the oil.
Empty into covered container, and store in
fridge until needed. This yields about 5 cups of
mix. Each cup of mix makes about six biscuits.

BISQUICK LIKE MIX #16
10 c. flour ,
1 2/3 instant nonfat powdered milk,
1/3 c. baking powder,
2.5 tsp salt ,
1 2/3 c. shortening.
Mix dry ingredients thoroughly in a large
container. Cut in shortening until fine crumbs
are obtained. Store tightly covered, in
refrigerator. Use within 3 months. Biscuits 3 c.
biscuit mix 2/3 c. water Preheat oven to 425 F.
Stir most of the water with the mix. Add more
water to make a soft dough that is not too
sticky to knead. Knead dough 15 times on a
lightly floured surface. Pat or roll dough into a
square about 7 x 7 inches. Cut into 16 pieces
and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake
until lightly browned, about 12 minutes.
BISQUICK LIKE MIX #1
1 cup unbleached flour
2/3 cup instant non fatpowdered milk
1 tb baking powder ,
1 1/2 ts cream of tartar ,
2 tb sugar ,
1 ts salt ,
1 cupshortening
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in the
shortening until the mixture resembles ourse
cornmeal.[ food processors work great for this]
Store in an air-tight container.
